Brief Description - This full-day session will provide a comprehensive introduction to the major topic areas in XML technology. Learn what all the fuss is about and how to jump immediately onto the fast-track for XML integration in your own business.

Prerequisites - Some technical experience with Web Development and HTML coding is beneficial. A basic understanding of the HTTP protocol and Web browsing is also assumed.

Tutorial Abstract - XML is the lingua franca of the Internet and has very quickly taken over as an enabler for e-Business transaction systems and other sophisticated applications delivered on the Web. This introductory course is designed to demonstrate and explore, through guided learning and hands-on development, the XML approach. Whether you are championing a new era of electronic publishing and content management, designing sophisticated e-commerce solutions, or delving into interoperable scientific data exchange, XML offers an opportunity to create an industrial-strength, self-describing, data-driven solution. As you learn XML, you will find that in many cases, the tools at your disposal are built in a vocabulary or grammar expressed in XML syntax. By mastering XML, you are learning a family of specialized technologies that coexist in an elegant symbiosis, in a variety of architectures, on a multitude of platforms.
